Devil Wears Prada sequel set for 2026

Washington, (EFE) – The sequel to ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ will be released on May 1st of next year, Disney reported to Variety magazine.

The film, starring Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt, will return to theaters 20 years after becoming a critical and box office success – it grossed $326 million – although the involvement of the original cast is currently unknown.

Screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, also known for writing the first installment of this universe, ’27 Dresses,’ and ‘I Don’t Know How She Does It,’ will be part of this project, for which the director is still unknown.

‘The Devil Wears Prada’ is based on the novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger and focuses on critiquing the power dynamics of the fashion world and magazine newsrooms.

For this film, star Meryl Streep earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actress for her portrayal of Miranda Priestly, a powerful editor at the fashion magazine Runway.

Blunt and Hathaway played Emily Charlton and Andy Sachs, the two assistants, subjected to Priestly’s pressure and demands.

Early news about this sequel sparked enormous excitement among fans, as did every reference any of the actresses have made to the film.

The three leading actresses have referenced the film and the roles they played, particularly Blunt and Hathaway serving Streep, at several awards ceremonies.
