Dean Cain to Join U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Support of National Security

Dean Cain, best known for portraying Superman in the 1990s television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has declared his intent to join the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency and encouraged other Americans to enlist as well.
Cain, 59, described himself as “a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer” and stated that upon posting an ICE recruitment video, he has since spoken with agency officials and expects to be sworn in as an ICE agent “ASAP.”
Expressing the decision as a patriotic duty, Cain remarked, “This government is built on patriots stepping up … I truly believe this is the right thing.”
He highlighted ICE’s incentives for recruits, including a $50,000 signing bonus, student loan repayment programs, enhanced retirement benefits, and the elimination of degree and age requirements.
However, the announcement sparked controversy—many pointed out the irony of a former Superman actor aligning with immigration enforcement. Critics noted that a large portion of those detained by ICE have no criminal convictions. Responding to remarks like “Superman himself would be disappointed in you,” Cain defiantly replied, “Not a chance.”
