City of McAllen Memorandum of Understanding
The City of McAllen officiated a Memorandum of Understanding with the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment, and Technology, also known as COMCE Noreste, to promote two-way trade, enhance efficient international commerce, and strengthen the economic landscape for international small and midsize enterprises. In early 2025, the $88 million expansion of Anzalduas International Bridge will open for northbound cargo, facilitating exports of dried goods to U.S. markets
This agreement formalizes business ties between McAllen and COMCE Noreste and its members. The partnership will create new trade and commerce opportunities for Anzalduas International Bridge and the Mexican states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Durango, and Tamaulipas. Together we aim to streamline exports through our state-of-the-art port of entry, which currently processes over 44,000 empty trucks traveling southbound.
COMCE’s advocacy for foreign trade and the integration of companies into global markets has resulted in the organization contributing effectively to 15% of the nation’s total exports and creating significant business connections with import-export brokers, ports of entry, logistics, and transportation favoring international trade and commerce.
