Camarillo, CA — On July 10, federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents executed criminal search warrants at Glass House Farms, a cannabis and produce operation in Camarillo and another facility in Carpinteria. Early Saturday, his family announced he had succumbed to his injuries Los Angeles Times. His niece described him on a GoFundMe page as a devoted husband and father and the primary provider for his family—including a wife and daughter residing in Michoacán, Mexico.

According to a DHS statement, Mr. Alanís Garcia “was not in and has not been in CBP or ICE custody” and “although he was not being pursued by law enforcement, this individual climbed up to the roof of a greenhouse and fell 30 feet.” DHS officials confirmed they called in a medevac “to get him care as quickly as possible”.

This marks the first known reported death associated with ICE enforcement operations since early July under the current presidential administration.

The events drew protests and confrontations involving tear gas, with multiple arrests made during the chaos.

Statements:
