Bug a Ranger

Take a peek into the lives of insects and the ranger that bugs them.

Discover with a ranger the insects of the park.  Learn about pollinators like butterflies and bees as well as terminators like mantises and assassin bugs.  Use your senses and ask the ranger about what you find. Gain a new perspective on the wild world around you.

  • Meet: Headquarters, Tram Turnaround, Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park
  • Date: Sunday, September 8th, from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
  • Bring: Water, weather appropriate clothing, hiking boots, and sunscreen (bug repellant and cameras for inaturalist recommended)
  • Registration:  Reservation not required.
  • Cost: Entry fee is $5 for adults and FREE 12 & under (Park entry free with Texas State Park Pass.).
