Brownsville Drainage Project

A new infrastructure project is bringing much-needed relief to residents of the Tradition Estates subdivision, where flooding during heavy rain has long been a concern.
City commissioners, staff from Public Works and Engineering, and local residents recently gathered at the site to mark the beginning of a long-awaited solution: the installation of a new drainage system designed to improve stormwater management in the area.
After listening to residents’ concerns and assessing the repeated flooding issues, the city took action. The project involves installing new storm sewer lines, which will help divert and drain excess rainwater away from homes and streets in the subdivision.
Construction on the project began in March 2025 and is being funded through the City’s Capital Improvement Program at a cost of approximately $300,000. Once completed, the new drainage system is expected to reduce flooding risks in the area significantly.
The City is undertaking this project to improve infrastructure and enhance neighborhood resiliency across Brownsville.
