Mission CISD FFA President Invited to Auctioneer at State Livestock Show

MISSION, TEXAS – Benny Garza, a senior at Mission High School and president of the Mission FFA Chapter, has been invited by Morgan Hopson, President of the National Auctioneers Association, to speak and serve as an auctioneer at the Texas Lone Star Open Livestock Show in Fort Worth on February 1, 2026.
The honor comes after Garza was named Champion Auctioneer in the Advanced High School Division during the inaugural Texas FFA Auctioneering Competition, held June 12, 2025, in Fort Worth. The competition was sponsored by the National Auctioneers Association, the Texas FFA Association and the Texas Auctioneers Association.
“Being invited to auctioneer at the Texas Lonestar Open Livestock Show at the Fort Worth Stock Show grounds is an incredible honor, and it proves that consistency and persistence payoff when you work hard,” said Garza.
As part of his winnings, Garza earned a full tuition scholarship to the American Auctioneers Academy and an all-expense-paid trip to the National Auctioneers Association Conference in Chicago this past July.
A Record of Excellence
Garza’s accomplishments extend beyond the auction block. He has earned three state championships and a national reserve championship by the end of his sophomore year. His leadership roles include president of the Mission High School student body, vice president of the Mission High School Construction Club, and vice president of the Citrus Valley District FFA.
In addition to his auctioneering achievements, he has also claimed state championships in public speaking and parliamentary procedure through FFA and SkillsUSA. Most recently, he competed in the first-ever FFA Teams Competition and the Intermediate Auctioneers Competition in Oklahoma City on August 29, 2025.
Well-Rounded and Mission Proud
Garza raises lambs and goats through his FFA Supervised Agricultural Experience, competes in construction through the school’s Construction Club, and will take on the lead role of Simba in Mission High School Encore Theatre’s upcoming production of The Lion King.
“Success, to me, comes from preparation, confidence, and the drive to always be better than yesterday. At the same time, it takes humility to learn, discipline to improve, and respect for the people who put their trust in you. I see this honor not as a finish line, but as fuel to keep raising the standard,” said Garza.
Garza says he is proud to represent Mission CISD and the City of Mission on the state and national level, and he hopes to continue pushing boundaries in every opportunity he is given.
