Never Too Late: McAllen Resident Plans Return to School for Long-Term Career Stability

Pharr, TX – For Armando Treviño, the decision to return to school is about more than earning a diploma. After enrolling at The PossAble Dream Adult High School, he reflected upon his desire to be closer to his family and offer more to those he loves.

Treviño, a retail manager, left school at 17. At the time, he said he struggled with staying in class and following the traditional school pathway.

“I was a hard knock,” he said. “I don’t know what was going through my head – too much.”

He spent years working in the oil fields of West Texas, far from his family. It was his wife who encouraged him to come home, reminding him of the life they could build together if he had more stable opportunities.

“I’ve been away from my family,” Treviño said. “My wife encouraged me to go back to school, so I could have something here to stay for my family.”

Now, through The PossAble Dream Adult High School, Treviño plans to complete his diploma and earn certifications in HVAC and CDL, credentials that will expand his career options and strengthen his resume.

He says the adult high school’s resources make the path back to school possible.

“The resources this program offers make it easy to come back,” Treviño said. “I have all this support to help me succeed.”

Treviño said his motivation is clear.

“I want to be situated in a good job,” he said. “Somewhere where I can call home. Something for the long run. For that, I need to get my diploma.”

Pre-registration is open now at www.thepossabledream.net. Classes begin Aug. 25, 2025.
