City of Mission Celebrates One-Year Anniversary of Fire-Based EMS Services
Mission, TX – The City of Mission proudly celebrates a major milestone: one full year of providing its own Fire-Based Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to the community. Since officially launching operations on April 11, 2024, Mission’s EMS program has significantly enhanced emergency response capabilities, ensuring rapid, professional, and life-saving care to residents in their time of greatest need.
Our team’s commitment to excellence, rapid response, and compassionate care has made a real difference. We’re honored to serve the people of Mission with the high-quality emergency services they deserve.
Since the program’s launch:
  • Mission’s EMS team has grown into a highly skilled unit with 25 paramedics8 advanced EMTs, and 33 EMT-Basics, providing critical emergency medical services to the community.
  • Firefighter-paramedics and EMTs have responded to over 6,637 medical emergencies, saving countless lives and achieving 20 Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC) cases in cardiac arrest patients — a major indicator of pre-hospital success.
  • The department has expanded its operational capacity with a fleet of four MICU-level ambulances, with two additional ambulances and a specialized all-terrain unit soon to be fully deployed to reach patients in challenging environments.
The City of Mission remains committed to further advancements in public health and safety and encourages all residents to recognize and thank the courageous firefighter-paramedics and EMTs who serve with extraordinary skill, dedication, and compassion.
As Mission EMS looks ahead, the department will continue to build upon this strong foundation—enhancing emergency services, expanding public health initiatives, and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of every Mission resident.
