McAllen, TX- The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) announces Destino Sur, a solo photography exhibition by acclaimed artist Carlos Limas, on exhibit now, and running through June 22, 2025. This exhibition, supported by the Texas Commission on the Arts, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) – Center for Latin American Arts, and South Texas College (STC), takes visitors on a visual exploration of Peru’s rich cultural and geographical landscapes.

For the past six years, Limas has traveled extensively across Peru, visiting iconic locations such as Cusco, Lima, Nazca, and Machu Picchu. His work captures the essence of everyday life, traditional festivals, and the breathtaking natural beauty of the region. Through his lens, Limas crafts a compelling narrative that celebrates the resilience, history, and cultural vibrancy of the Peruvian people.

Limas states, “The goal of this project is to create a visual narrative that not only showcases Peru’s stunning scenery but also highlights its rich cultural tapestry and the resilience of its communities. This ongoing project is a labor of love and a testament to a deep connection with Peru.”

IMAS members are invited to an exclusive exhibit reception for Destino Sur on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Explore the exhibition and hear directly from artist Carlos Limas, who will be in attendance to share insights into his work and inspirations.
