Women’s Golf Finishes in 10th at Texas State Invitational

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women’s golf team wrapped up their first spring tournament finishing in 10th place at the Texas State Invitational on Tuesday at Vaaler Creek Golf Club.

The Vaqueros finished with a three-round score of 962 after posting a final round 329.

Junior Jackie Howard Gonzalez led the Vaqueros with a three-round score of 229 as she carded a final round 74 to finish tied for 12th place. Sophomore Natalia Rodriguez posted a final round 78 to finish tied for 17th with a three-round score of 231.

Sophomore Camila Herrera finished in 53rd with a three-round score of 250 after turning in a final round 86 and senior Catherine Flores finished in 62nd with a three-round score of 267 after posting a final round 91.

Host Texas State won the team title with a three-round score of 899 after posting a final round 294. Oklahoma State’s Summer Lee won the individual title with a three-round score of 214 after posting a final round 74.

The Vaqueros will be back in action Feb. 17-18 at the Islander Classic, as part of the South Texas Showdown, presented by Rally Credit Union.
