Mission High School siblings dominate District Swim Championship
Mission, TX (January 31, 2025) – Mission High School’s swimming program is making history thanks to the incredible talent of siblings David and Angela Trevino. Both student-athletes recently claimed the coveted titles of District Champion and Swimmer of the Meet, dominating their events in the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle categories.
Senior David Trevino and freshman Angela Trevino showcased their speed and determination at the district meet, securing top finishes and proving that excellence in swimming runs in the family. Their success is not only a testament to their hard work but also a reflection of the high standards set by their older sister, Victoria Trevino, whose records at Mission High School continue to inspire them.
Sibling Rivalry and Motivation
David, a seasoned swimmer, has set his sights on surpassing his older sister Victoria’s achievements while guiding his younger sibling Angela toward greatness. “Technically, I’m faster right now, but she holds more school records than I do. I want to beat her records, but I also want to help Angela achieve her goals,” he shared.
For Angela, this season has been a breakthrough moment. Competing in her first high school season, she has already proven to be a fierce competitor. “I was expected to get first, but I wasn’t sure if I would. It was tough competition, but I just wanted to beat my personal best and work toward breaking my sister’s records,” she said.
Support System and Training
Both siblings credit their success to their coach, their parents, and the supportive swimming community. Their competitive nature as siblings also plays a crucial role in their success, as they constantly push each other to improve, whether in the pool or in everyday challenges. “We are competitive in everything, from swimming to even small tasks like washing dishes,” Angela laughed. Their coach has dedicated extra hours to refining their techniques, while their parents have been a constant source of encouragement and motivation. “It’s not just about us; it’s about everyone pushing each other to be better,” David noted. “We compete, but we also lift each other up.”
Looking Ahead
With their shared drive and competitive spirit, the Trevino siblings are not only making waves in the pool but also setting a new standard for Mission High School’s swimming program, surpassing previous records and raising the bar for future athletes. Their next goal? Qualify for state.
As David nears the end of his high school swimming career, he remains focused on securing a spot at the collegiate level, with scholarship offers already on the table. Meanwhile, Angela is just beginning her journey, determined to leave her mark and continue the family legacy.
For now, Mission High School celebrates the outstanding achievements of these two star athletes, eagerly anticipating the next chapter in their swimming careers.
