Valley Symphony Orchestra brings Cocktails con Fuerza to Brownsville
Brownsville, TX – The Valley Symphony Orchestra (VSO) is thrilled to announce a special performance of Cocktails con Fuerza in Brownsville on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 8 PM at the Texas Southmost College Performing Arts Center. From Gershwin’s Havana-inspired Cuban Overture to Duke Ellington’s thrilling symphonic big-band arrangements, this program promises to be as bold as it is captivating.
Plus, attendees will have the pleasure of witnessing the South Texas premiere of Grammy and Latin Grammy-nominated Gabriela Ortiz’s Antrópolis, described by The New York Times as having “orchestral sophistication and grooving joy [that] would make West Side Story jealous.”
Presented by Bert Ogden Auto Group and supported by a grant from the Rio Grande Valley Philanthropic Foundation. Additional support from Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation, Brownsville Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Atlas, Hall & Rodriguez, LLP.
Please note this special event is not a replacement for the McAllen concert of the same name scheduled the day before on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the McAllen Performing Arts Center. Instead, it serves as an exciting opportunity to bring the world-class music of the VSO to new audiences and share the joy of symphonic music with the Brownsville community.
As a cultural cornerstone of the Rio Grande Valley, the Valley Symphony Orchestra is dedicated to enriching communities through music and the arts. This concert in Brownsville marks a significant milestone in the VSO’s mission to expand its impact throughout the region.
