Year In Review: Fan Support
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Athletic Department is taking a look back at a historic calendar year through a series of stories titled, “Year In Review.”
This is the third installment of the series which has reviewed UTRGV’s facilities enhancements and competitive excellence in 2024.
Baseball Finishes 39th in NCAA in Regular Season Attendance
Baseball ranked 39th among the 305 NCAA Division I baseball teams in total and average attendance during the 2024 season.
UTRGV welcomed a program record 62,132 fans for 29 games across 28 dates, a program record average of 2,219 fans per date.
The previous records were 45,461 total fans, set in 2023, and an average of 1,920 fans across 20 dates in 1972.
UTRGV welcomed the second and third largest crowds in program history, with 6,044 for a game against UT Arlington on April 6 and 5,374 for a game against Utah Valley on April 13, respectively.
UTRGV also welcomed seven of the program’s 10 largest crowds since moving into UTRGV Baseball Stadium in 2002, including 4,451 against Sacramento State on May 17 (fourth), 4,314 against Sacramento State on May 18 (fifth), 4,313 against Grand Canyon on March 23 (sixth), 3,962 against Stephen F. Football Season Tickets and Suites Sold Out for 2025 Season
The season tickets for the inaugural season of UTRGV football are sold out with 6,000 deposits having been placed.
UTRGV is set to kickoff for the first time on Aug. 30, 2025.
UTRGV is hard at work to ensure the Rio Grande Valley community has the best game day experience possible. As a part of that process, it has been determined that limiting season ticket deposits to 6,000 is necessary to accommodate enough seats for season ticket holders, UTRGV students, the marching band, the player pass list, and the visiting team pass list. UTRGV Athletics also announced that the 40 suites at Robert & Janet Vackar Stadium for the first four seasons of UTRGV Football, 2025-28, are sold out. A limited number of premium seats, including loge boxes and club seats, which require three-year commitments, will be available during the select-a-seat process in the spring. On September 12, UTRGV broke the single-match attendance record when they hosted Texas Tech in front of a sellout crowd of 2,771 at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.
