Brownsville Airport To Begin Runway Renovation
The Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport will soon embark on a major runway renovation aimed at improving aircraft arrivals and enhancing the overall passenger experience. Airport officials announced that the $35 million reconstruction project for Runway 18-36 will begin in January 2025.
Runway 18-36, which serves flights from United Airlines, American Airlines, and Aerus Airlines, connects Brownsville with non-stop flights to Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and Monterrey, Mexico. The project is expected to take three years to complete, with the first phase costing an estimated $10 million. This initial phase is funded by a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant.
