Women’s Golf Finishes in 14th at Red Raider Invitational

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women’s golf team finished in 14^th place at the Red Raider Invitational, hosted by Texas Tech, on Wednesday at The Rawls Course.

The Vaqueros carded a final round 314 as they finished with a three-round score of 934. UTRGV finished ahead of Incarnate Word and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi as Texas Tech took home the team title.

Sophomore Natalia Rodriguez led the way for the Vaqueros as she posted a final round 76. Rodriguez finished tied for 55^th with a three-round score of 230. Junior Jackie Howard Gonzalez finished tied for 68^th with a three-round score of 233 after posting a final round 77.

Freshman Kieli Saenz finished tied for 73^rd with a three-round score of 235 after posting a final round 80.

Freshman Mia Truong came in 76^th with a three-round score of 238 after turning in a final round 81 and sophomore Preston Saiz finished in tied for 83^rd with a three-round score of 244 after a final round 83.

Kent State’s Veronika Kedronova won the individual title with a three-round score of 209.

The Vaqueros will be back in action on Sept. 30 when they compete at the Diane Thomason Invitational, hosted by the University of Iowa.
