What an Amazing Day for Mission and the City of McAllen

What an Amazing Day for Mission and the City of McAllen

A significant milestone was celebrated by the completion of Phase 1 of the Taylor Road Reconstruction Project. This long-awaited development has transformed the stretch of Taylor Road from Frontage Road to U.S. Business 83, upgrading it from two lanes to four, and incorporating a continuous left-turn lane along with sidewalks on both sides.

The expansion will not only alleviate traffic congestion but also enhance pedestrian safety, making the road more accessible and efficient for both drivers and walkers alike. These upgrades are designed to improve the overall flow of traffic, reduce commute times, and provide safer, more walkable routes for the community.

This achievement would not have been possible without the support and collaboration of our dedicated partners—the City of McAllen, TxDOT, the Rio Grande Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization (RGVMPO), and Hidalgo County Precincts 2 and 3. Their combined efforts have made this project a reality, underscoring the importance of teamwork and regional cooperation in creating better infrastructure for our communities.

Looking ahead, Phase 2 of the project is set to begin in the summer of 2025, extending the improvements from U.S. Business 83 to Mile 2 Road. We are excited to continue this journey toward a safer, more efficient transportation system for the region.

Thank you to everyone involved, and here’s to more progress on the horizon!
