Tiger Fury Kajukenbo Honored for Winning 73 World Titles

The Mission City Council proudly recognized the Tiger Fury Kajukenbo Self Defense Institute Headquarters for their remarkable achievement at the 2024 Open Martial Arts Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they secured an astounding 73 World Championship titles!

Kajukenbo, a hybrid American Mixed Martial Art founded in Hawaii in 1947, emphasizes the development of Mind, Spirit, and Body. Brought to Mission, Texas, by Sigung Luis Garcia, this art form has flourished under his leadership, producing some of the best fighters, teachers, masters, and grand masters in the region. Among the institute’s champions, students Sarah Grace Garcia, Regina Maemy Moreno, Victoria Romero, Mia Valentina Cano, and Charlotte Diane Brown distinguished themselves with multiple Grand Champion medals and an impressive haul of 30 world champion gold medals, 30 silver medals, 7 bronze medals, and 6 Grand Champion Hawaiian Weapons titles.

“We thank you for your support and we are proud to have this be our fourth year being recognized by the council and having our Mission kids recognized for their outstanding performances,” said Mr. Garcia. The City Council congratulated the Tiger Fury Kajukenbo team for their dedication, skill, and for bringing honor and pride to the City of Mission on a global stage.
