A Message from the Texas Department of Transportation
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is set to commence the FM676 (Auburn Avenue) Roadway Widening project in July 2024. This construction aims to enhance the infrastructure and accommodate increasing traffic demands. The project will involve significant upgrades to the current roadway, transforming it into a more efficient and safer route for all users.
The proposed improvements include expanding the existing roadway to incorporate four 12-foot travel lanes. This addition will facilitate smoother traffic flow and reduce congestion, particularly during peak hours. Along with these lanes, a 14-foot continuous left-turn lane will be introduced. This feature is designed to ease the process of turning left, minimizing disruptions to through traffic and enhancing overall road safety.
In addition to the travel lanes and the left-turn lane, the project will also add 10-foot shoulders. These shoulders are crucial for providing extra space for emergency stops, accommodating cyclists, and ensuring a safer environment for all road users. The wider roadway and additional features are expected to significantly improve the functionality and safety of FM676.
The TxDOT is committed to keeping the public informed throughout the construction period and ensuring that any disruptions are minimized. The enhancements to FM676 (Auburn Avenue) reflect TxDOT’s dedication to improving transportation infrastructure to meet the growing needs of the community.
As the start date approaches, TxDOT will provide further updates and details about the construction timeline and any potential impacts on traffic.
