97th Annual McAllen Independence Day Celebration, presented by H-E-B, Invites Community to Participate

Community invited to enjoy free, day-long festivities

The City of McAllen is inviting the community to celebrate America’s birthday at the 97th Annual Independence Day Celebration, presented by H-E-B, on Friday, July 4, 2025. The day-long celebration will feature family-friendly events including a 4K race, Patriotic Program, the Main Street Parade, a lively Freedom Festival and the H-E-B Concert in the Sky Fireworks Extravaganza.

“H-E-B is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the 97th Annual McAllen Independence Day Celebration,” said Linda Tovar H-E-B Director of Public Affairs. “We’re honored to stand with the City of McAllen in celebrating our nation’s independence and recognizing the men and women of our U.S. Armed Forces.”

The celebration begins at 7:00 a.m. with the Independence Day 4K Run, hosted in partnership with Team Red, White and Blue, a national veterans’ organization. Registration is $35 and open at www.mcallenmarathon.com. Awards will be presented across various age categories.

At 8:00 a.m., the festivities kick-off with a rousing musical Patriotic Program which will take place at Archer Park, 101 N. Main St., followed by the Main Street Parade, running north along Main Street from Houston Avenue to Beech Avenue. Community members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and pets to enjoy the show. Free seating is available along the route; no open flames allowed. Both events are free to the entire public.

Those unable to attend in person can watch the program and parade live on MCN 1300 (Spectrum) or stream it on the City of McAllen website, 311 mobile app, the City’s YouTube Channel or by downloading the McAllen Cable Network on their Roku or Apple TV.

Festivities continue at Freedom Festival at Archer Park from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with free admission and live music, games, food and classic family fun. Then, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., cool off at the Aquatic Extravaganza at Municipal Pool, located at 1921 N. Bicentennial Blvd.

The day concludes with a fireworks and fun at Municipal Park,  beginning at 6:00 p.m., with live music and food vendors and capped off by the H-E-B Concert in the Sky Fireworks Extravaganza at 9:00 p.m. Tune in to 710-AM KURV to enjoy the fireworks set to patriotic music. Attendees can bring picnic and lawn chair set-ups to enjoy all the fun. For those who can’t make the fireworks show, watch it live on MCN 1300 and all of its streaming platforms.
