$450,000 Contract For New Bus Shelters
The Brownsville City Commission has greenlit a $450,000 contract with EngoPlanet to install 19 new bus shelters, marking a significant enhancement for the city’s public transportation infrastructure. This latest investment aims to provide greater comfort and convenience for bus riders across the community.
Adding to the 32 already in place throughout the city, the new shelters are designed with several modern features to improve rider experience. Each shelter will have USB ports for phone charging, LED lighting to improve nighttime visibility, and seamless sidewalk connections for easier access. Additionally, all shelters will include ADA-compliant ramps to ensure accessibility for residents with disabilities.
The City Commission emphasized that this project is part of a broader effort to continually improve public transportation services and enhance the quality of life for all community members. By expanding coverage and integrating advanced amenities, the city hopes to offer a safer, more comfortable experience for its bus riders.
