Attention all law enforcement K-9 units and their dedicated handlers! Get ready to showcase your skills and teamwork at the 2nd Annual RGV Police K-9 Competition. This thrilling event is free and open to the public, featuring a two-day workshop followed by the main competition on Saturday, August 3rd.

– Location: Edinburg Parks and Recreation Facility, Mark S. Pena Drive, Edinburg

Workshop Overview:

The two-day workshop, held on August 1st and 2nd, will provide valuable training and skill-building opportunities for K-9 units and handlers. Training sites will include:

– Narcotics detection

– Explosives detection

– Patrol techniques

– Cadaver search

– Vehicle and bus searches

– Open area searches

– Problem-solving exercises

– Building searches

– Scent walls and boxes

– High-low obstacles

– Masking odor challenges

Competition Highlights:

On Saturday, August 3rd, the main competition will commence at 9:00 AM. K-9 units will showcase their abilities across various categories, including obedience, agility, protection, and detection. Spectators are invited to witness the impressive displays of teamwork and skill as K-9 teams compete for top honors.
